Become a
Defender!
Planned Parenthood Advocates of Oregon utilizes grassroots organizing to educate and mobilize our diverse base of supporters across the state. We rely on thousands of volunteers to support our work to protect and advance access to reproductive healthcare services and comprehensive sex education. It takes a unified action to protect the health of our communities and promote reproductive freedom.
PPAO Defenders can help defend and advance our mission by: taking digital advocacy actions like signing petitions and sending emails to legislators; submitting testimony and letters to the editor; attending events like fundraisers, rallies and lobby days in Salem; and getting out the vote for Planned Parenthood PAC of Oregon-endorsed candidates for office by making calls and knocking doors.

Join a Leadership
& Advocacy Team!
Becoming a member of a Leadership & Advocacy Team (LAT) is a yearlong commitment to taking action and building power with our organization, and to growing your own toolbox as an organizer. LAT members gain extensive experience in electoral and grassroots organizing by completing a curriculum of trainings on reproductive issues and organizing strategies and tactics, and putting those skills to work in the real world to create change.
Our volunteer leadership teams are the heart of our success and political power.

Apply for a
Fellowship!
PPAO takes our leadership development program very seriously. We are committed to empowering the next generation of passionate leaders for reproductive and social justice, and our staff works closely with Fellows to develop their skills as organizers and advocates. Two members of our current staff began with PPAO in our Fellowship program! We believe in learning by doing, and we give our Fellows opportunities to take on special projects.
Fellowships are temporary, part-time, paid hourly positions that can run from 12 weeks to a full year, depending on the position. The time commitment is typically 10-12 hours a week, occasionally up to 20 hours during our busy season. Fellows focus on critical issue areas of our work, from legislative and electoral priorities to community outreach and future policy research.
Raíz Oregon: By Latinxs, For Latinxs

Planned Parenthood fights to ensure that all people have access to high-quality and affordable health care, regardless of race, income, geography, immigration status or gender identity — no matter what. That is why Planned Parenthood’s Raíz program is committed to breaking down barriers in accessing health care in the Latinx community. The Raíz program is about more than just health. It’s about justice, knowledge and power.
Since 2014, the Raíz (Spanish for “root”) program has worked to build sustainable, community-organizing teams in mutual partnership with Latinx communities, by Latinxs and for Latinxs. Now for the first time, Raíz is in Oregon!
Host a House Party!
You can support Planned Parenthood Advocates of Oregon by hosting a house party! Whether you are focused on fundraising, raising awareness or civic engagement, house parties are a fantastic way to engage your community in activism.
Your house party is part of a larger strategy to mobilize people who are pro-sexual and reproductive health care, to build our membership and to increase our grassroots power to build a powerful movement. Thank you for defending reproductive freedom one hors d’oeuvre at a time.
